Yep, it's been a while...I hope you guys didn't miss me too much. That's not true, I hope you missed me alot, the few of you who read my journal entries. Well, I decided to finally break the hiatus, and also to explain it.
A couple things have happened since my idea to make packages tanked.
First off, I normally would take pictures when I'm on vacation in various places, and two-three months ago I've enrolled in a university in Bedford, England, and have been studying there, without breaks, since, so I've not really visited any interesting places to take new pictures of, and the opportunity to do model shots had also not yet arived.
The reason I had not continued with the packages was because, due to a crappy malfunction, the entire hard drive where I kept all my pictures had been completely wiped, meaning I lost all my pictures, except for those that I had uploaded onto dA already. I thought there wasn't really a point in repackaging the same material unless the packages had some more bonus pictures in them, but since those were erased, I abandoned the whole endeavor altogether. So those three packages are all that remains of it.
But I've just had a decent winter break, during which I've been able to visit a number of places, and take a number of pictures, a bunch of which I've already uploaded and archived, namely the ones taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Kraslava, Latvia. So I hope you enjoy those. I changed that profile picture to a nice profile portrait of myself, so that's nice too.
And another thing came up as I was uploading these pictures: I had a look at my entire stock collection, and realized that I may be providing a very useless kind of stock image cache to the public. I say this because most photomanipulators, when looking for stock photography, usually search for specific items in specific angles, and approach scenery in the same way. The same can be said of painters and the like, who use stock for reference. I realized that my stock photos provide a different kind of reference, not rich in specific content, or quality, but variety, the kind necessary for a good imaginative process to be properly fed. But herein lies the question: Is that actually useful to anyone? Can any of you guys please reply to this journal entry, and tell me if you actually find my stock useful, in that sense or otherwise? Cause thusfar I've only been taking pictures of what I liked, instead of adressing people's photographic needs, to specific items. Just a thought, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
There are still a bunch of pictures I took from my trip to Minsk, but I'm not certain if those will get up here quickly or at all, cause they were taken on no less than 3 random cameras, and must be tediously collected before upload. Anyway, you'll know if my efforts on that front were successful, so that's that.
As always, I've still got the whole model idea on my mind, still trying to figure out how to make it work, so sit tight, don't go anywhere!
And also, as always, a big thanks to all the people who've decided to watch me during my hiatus, to all the people who've faved my stuff, to all the artists who use my work, make me feel needed and special, and to those who just leave nice comments for my pictures. To everyone a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and let's hope the end of the decade will be glorious.
